Pedagogy and Team Cours Florent International

Our pedagogy: a structured and practice-led approach

At Cours Florent, our pedagogy is structured, progressive, and rooted in practice. Training is designed to support each student’s artistic development while preparing them for the realities of the professional world.

Our approach aims to:

  • Provide a strong technical foundation in performance
  • Develop interpretative and creative abilities
  • Encourage critical thinking and artistic autonomy
  • Prepare students for professional integration

Ethical awareness and professional conduct are integral to our teaching. A shared charter sets out our commitment to respect, inclusion, and responsible artistic practice. Dedicated support systems ensure a safe, constructive, and supportive learning environment.

Our teaching team

Our teachers

All Cours Florent teachers are active professionals in the performing arts and creative industries  actors, directors, writers, choreographers, and coaches. They are encouraged to maintain their professional practice alongside teaching, ensuring that their work remains closely connected to the realities of theatre, film, music, and emerging media.

Throughout their training, students work with a variety of teachers, each bringing their own methods, experiences, and artistic perspectives. This diversity allows students to explore different approaches and refine their individual artistic identity.

In addition to acting instructors, students benefit from the expertise of specialists in voice, singing, movement, improvisation, clowning, stand-up comedy, screenwriting, and more.

Our academic supervisors

Each department is led by an academic supervisor who oversees the smooth running of classes and supports communication between students and the school. They play a key role in shaping a learning environment that is both supportive and demanding.

Academic supervisors closely monitor each student’s progress and provide individual guidance through regular meetings, offering feedback on development, motivation, and creative projects.

Working alongside the school’s leadership and teaching staff, they ensure the consistency and quality of the pedagogical framework. Programmes and learning pathways are regularly reviewed and adapted to reflect the evolving demands of the creative industries.

Support, inclusion and wellbeing

Disability support and inclusive practices

Cours Florent is committed to removing barriers to training and ensuring that students with disabilities can fully engage in their studies.

Students may choose whether and how to share information about their needs. The school provides confidential support and works to implement appropriate adjustments wherever possible. Our disability service offers guidance and personalised support to help students succeed throughout their training.

Listening, respect and equality

A dedicated Listening, Respect and Equality referent supports students and ensures that the school remains a safe and respectful environment for all. Preventing inappropriate behaviour and promoting inclusivity are central to our daily practice.

Professional development and career preparation

Masterclasses and seminars

Preparing students for professional life is an integral part of the training at Cours Florent. Dedicated professionalisation modules equip students with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to navigate the creative industries.

Throughout the year, students take part in seminars, masterclasses, and industry-focused sessions led by established professionals from theatre, film, and the performing arts. These encounters provide valuable insights into the realities of the profession, while also helping students explore the wide range of career paths available.

Recent guests have included Geoffrey Carey, Tom Wozniczka, Chloé Boréham, as well as institutions such as Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Students may also attend lectures in French featuring figures such as Quentin Dupieux, Michel Hazanavicius, Sandrine Kiberlain, Cédric Klapisch, Vincent Lindon, Raphaël Quenard, and Benjamin Voisin.

Additional thematic seminars complement practical training, covering topics such as performance techniques, theatre and film history, women creators, and the legal and economic aspects of the performing arts.

These opportunities not only enrich students’ artistic culture but also help them build essential professional networks and prepare for a smooth transition into the industry.

Each year, Cours Florent organises a range of intensive training weekends for Acting in English students.

In collaboration with Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, students take part in immersive workshops led by visiting practitioners alongside Cours Florent tutors. Over several days, these sessions focus on the work of major anglophone playwrights and offer an in-depth, practice-based experience.

Dedicated audition training weekends are also organised for third-year students, helping them prepare for professional casting processes.

To support students as they take their first steps into the professional world, Cours Florent offers a comprehensive range of career-focused opportunities.

Students benefit from regular casting training sessions, as well as specialised workshops designed to familiarise them with industry expectations. These sessions provide opportunities to meet and work with casting directors, agents, and other professionals.

Alongside this, students receive personalised guidance, including support with professional platforms, access to verified opportunities, and advice on navigating the transition into the industry.

Thanks to strong links with industry professionals, students may be put forward for relevant opportunities, helping them build their first professional experience and network.

Partnerships and artistic engagement

Partnerships with leading institutions

Cours Florent collaborates with major cultural institutions and industry organisations to enrich students’ training.

Partnerships include collaborations with the Musée d’Orsay, offering unique performance opportunities, regular exchanges with the Théâtre Mogador, and work with Stage Entertainment France on the musical theatre Classe Libre.

Art and social impact

Cours Florent encourages students to engage with the arts as a tool for positive social impact.

Students may work with institutions such as the Paris School of Medicine, providing role-play sessions for medical training. In partnership with hospitals, they also contribute to creative workshops for patients and healthcare professionals, using artistic practice to foster expression, connection, and wellbeing.
