Designed for children aged 7 to 12 (CE1-5ème) who already have a good command of English or are bilingual, this class is taught entirely in English. Children develop their spoken fluency, build self-confidence and discover the joy of performing on stage.

  • Introduction to actor training: physical and vocal warm-ups.
  • Breath work, vocal projection, and articulation exercises.
  • Tongue twisters and pronunciation games.
  • Word play, idioms, and English sayings.
  • Work on sounds, rhyme patterns, and rhythm.
  • Guided improvisation.

Exploring the Anglophone imaginative world

Objectives

  • Develop imagination and creativity.
  • Practice storytelling skills.
  • Create and embody characters.
  • Discover English-language children’s literature.

Content

  • Devising work based on images and illustrations.
  • Introduction to Anglophone illustrators.
  • Reading picture books and short stories in English.
  • Character creation and development.
  • Still images (tableaux) and improvisational work.
  • Exploring emotions and character relationships on stage.

Discovering English-language theatre repertoire for young audiences

Objectives

  • Understand the stakes and objectives within a scene.
  • Build and perform a character.
  • Strengthen ensemble performance skills.
  • Explore English-language theatre for young audiences.

Content

  • Script work and dialogue (text analysis and line work).
  • Introduction to playwrights and stories from Anglophone youth theatre repertoire.
  • Blocking and staging work (staging).
  • Group rehearsal process.
  • Creation of a short performance piece or ensemble showcase.
